What a fabulous 1st Day of School! The kids did a GREAT job (and parents also)!! Every time I popped into classrooms there were smiles and laughter as they learned about the different things in their new classrooms!
Lunch is a little slow (especially for our littles), but we will get there! We do our very best to make sure that all kids are eating the majority of their lunches, however some slip through our fingers!
*Just a little suggestion to help make lunch a little easier on everyone...if you can have your kids practice opening and closing their lunch containers it will help them start eating right away (many had to wait for the 3 or 4 of us to make our rounds today and open containers)!
*It is also sometimes helpful to have your littles get involved in packing their lunch so that they know what is in it and what they need to eat first and last (many went straight for the cookies, rice krispie treat and brownies, skipping the sandwich, meat & cheese or what the main course was supposed to be!). By walking through their lunch with you, it may help them to know what is expected before opening their lunch boxes!
*Overall, it was a great lunch experience (so much so I'd like to hire a few of you to pack my lunch...LOL!).
Tomorrow, we will open the doors at 8:20am. As long as there is no rain, please remain outside the main doors. Either myself or another teacher will make their way down at 8:20am and greet everyone! Parents are welcome to walk their kids to class this week and then we are going to ask that kids be sent on their way independently starting next week as we want to start developing strong routines with them right away! If there is ever anything that you need from a teacher or myself, please just send us an email that you'd like to chat for a quick few minutes, then sign in and head down (we definitely want an open door policy, however the first 3-4 weeks of school are major for setting routines!).
Just another reminder that I will be out of the building on Wednesday and Thursday this week as I will be heading to Washington D.C. with our middle school group from Wednesday-Saturday. If you need anything, please feel free to email, however I won't be checking email until the evening hours!
Our first PTO Meeting is September 8 (Thursday) from 6:30pm-7:30pm, so mark your calendars! We have A TON of great things to look forward to this year and your help and support will be needed!
Don't forget that the $10 online portfolio & planner fee, along with camp fees ($30 for K-4 and $70 for 5-8) are due by August 18. If you need to make payment arrangements, please let myself or your child's teacher know and we will set up reminders to you! Our goal is to make sure every child has the same experience and that experience fits their needs!
Have a GREAT evening (they should be all tired out for you!),
Leslie
