There is a choir concert on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at DeWitt Auditorium starting at 7:30pm.

Big News in the Classroom!!!
opportunity costs & how choices affect production & consumption, they had the opportunity to use
their learning to create small businesses to manufacture a product, market it and sell it.
How the PBL started and ended:
as we were learning about the Economy of Michigan. As Maggie shared about how she got s
tarted and what it's like to run a business as a young adult, and how she uses the money, she
shared that this year she wasn't able to meet her goal to help as many families as she'd like
with Christmas gifts. After discussing this with the class, the kids wanted to try and help her
as they wanted to help her give Christmas to kids, families, and people in need. The kids
decided to create their own businesses and learn what it's like to run a business. Each group
of kids from 3rd/4th grade created a business, a business plan, a product, and decided on how
many to produce, and what to price their product as. Through this process the kids learned
how difficult it is to predict demand even after gathering research. Students learned how to
adjust their prices to entice more buyers and all of the decisions that go into making a company
successful. In the end, their businesses were quite successful and they were able to raise and
provide Maggie from Maggie's Flowers a grand total of $414.42 to go towards families this
Christmas or to give her a head start on next year!!
Hand2Hand
Many families have expressed an interest in donating to Hand2Hand to help the
church who is helping some of our students weekly! I was able to finally get my
feet wet with this program and the coordinator and I were able to come up with a plan.
Just a little about Hand2Hand first. Currently Hand2Hand is in 135 schools in
W/est Michigan feeding approximately 4200 children! Hand2Hand is honored
to partner with every early childhood, elementary, middle and high school in ZPS!

We are collecting Lego bricks for our school. Our students will be able to use these for
upcoming enrichment activities, and the teachers will also have access to them for classroom
use. When we collect enough legos we will put an enrichment class on our calendar. Ask
